Wedding stationery is one of the most personal print jobs we do at Copyprint.ie. From the first invitation that drops through a guest's letterbox to the order of service handed out at the ceremony, every piece contributes to the day. Here's a complete guide to wedding stationery printing in Dublin — what to order, when to order it, and how to get it right.
The Full Wedding Stationery List
Most couples need more printed pieces than they initially expect. Here's the complete set to plan for:
Pre-wedding: Save the dates, invitations, RSVP cards, information cards (directions, accommodation, dress code), envelopes.
On the day: Order of service booklets, ceremony programmes, table numbers, place cards, table plan, menus, favour tags, signage.
Post-wedding: Thank you cards.
You don't need all of these — but knowing what exists means you can make an intentional decision about each one rather than realising at the last minute that you forgot table numbers.
Invitations: The Most Important Piece
Your invitation sets the tone for the entire day. The paper stock, finish and quality tell guests what kind of event to expect before they've read a word.
For invitations, we typically recommend 350gsm to 400gsm card stock — substantial enough to feel premium in the hand. Finish options available at our Dublin printing service:
Matte laminate: Clean, elegant, slightly textured feel. The most popular choice for modern wedding invitations. Pairs well with minimal design.
Soft-touch laminate: Velvety, luxurious feel. Stands out immediately. Best for premium or formal weddings.
Uncoated: A natural, slightly textured finish with no laminate. Suits rustic, botanical, or handmade-feel designs. Takes handwriting beautifully if you're addressing envelopes by hand.
Spot UV: A high-gloss coating applied selectively to specific elements — your names, a monogram, a floral motif — on a matte base. Creates a beautiful contrast effect.
Orders of Service
The ceremony order of service is the most-handled piece of wedding stationery — guests hold it throughout the ceremony. It needs to be durable, readable, and well-presented.
The standard format is an A5 saddle-stitched booklet (four pages from two folded A4 sheets). For longer ceremonies, an 8-page or 12-page booklet gives more room. We also print single-fold A4 cards (giving four A5 panels) for shorter ceremonies or civil weddings.
Paper: 170gsm or 200gsm cover with 100gsm inner pages. Matte or uncoated finish — gloss is too reflective in bright church or outdoor lighting.
See our booklet printing service for full options. We also handle funeral orders of service with the same care if needed.
Table Cards and Menus
Table numbers, place cards, and menus are often left to the last minute — which is where same day printing in Dublin city centre comes in useful. We regularly print wedding day stationery at short notice for couples who've had a late design change or simply underestimated quantities.
Table menus: A5 or DL size, single-sided or folded. Laminating is popular for menus that will be handled during a meal — matte lamination is easier to read under ambient lighting than gloss.
Table numbers: Typically printed on 400gsm card, either flat or scored for a tent fold.
Place cards: Small folded cards (DL or A6 folded) with guest names. We print blank place cards that you write on, or fully printed sets if you have the name list ready.
Timeline: When to Order What
Save the dates: 9–12 months before the wedding. Especially important if guests are travelling.
Invitations: 6–8 weeks before the wedding (12 weeks if international guests).
Day-of stationery (order of service, table cards, menus): 2–4 weeks before. We recommend having these finalised at least 10 days before the wedding to allow for a proof check and any reprints.
Thank you cards: Order these before the wedding so you have them ready — you'll have enough to think about after the day.
Getting Your Files Ready
For wedding stationery, matching colour across multiple pieces matters. A blush pink on your invitation needs to match the blush on your table cards. This means:
Design everything in CMYK mode. See our guide on CMYK vs RGB for why this matters for colour consistency.
Use the same hex or CMYK values across all files. If you have a designer producing your suite, ask them to provide a single CMYK colour reference for each colour used.
Check our print-ready checklist before sending files. We're happy to run a proof print of your invitation before committing to a full run — just ask when you order.
