How to Design an Event Poster That Actually Gets Noticed

How to Design an Event Poster That Actually Gets Noticed

A well-designed event poster does one job: it makes someone stop, read it, and decide they want to go. Whether you're printing an A1 conference poster, an A3 gig flyer, or a large format A0 display, the design principles are the same — and so are the rules for getting it print-ready for poster printing in Dublin.

Lead With the Five Key Facts

Your poster should answer five questions immediately: What is it? Who is it for? When? Where? How do I get a ticket? Put the event name and date in the largest text on the page. Everything else is secondary.

Event poster design tips from CopyPrint Dublin

Use One Strong Hero Visual

Pick one strong, high-quality visual. For print, your image must be at least 300 DPI at the final output size. A web image that looks fine on screen will print blurry at A1 or A0. Not sure? Check our print-ready file guide.

Typography: Three Tiers

Big: catches the eye from metres away — event name, key date. Medium: draws you closer — venue, headliners, ticket price. Small: rewards a close read — website, social handles. If everything is the same size, nothing stands out.

Colour: Keep It Simple

Two or three colours maximum. Critical: design in CMYK mode, not RGB. What looks vibrant on your monitor in RGB can shift when printed in CMYK if not converted properly.
